We at Harbour Safaris consider ourselves blessed.  We live in a tropical paradise, complete with crystal clear blue waters, white and pink sand beaches, temperate weather, and some of the friendliest people in the world!

With our new venture, we look forward to sharing that with our guests – both local Bahamians and wannabe Bahamians from near and far!

On that note, we were ecstatic to take our maiden voyage on “Huntress” down through the Exumas – stopping along the way at Allen’s and Leaf Cay to see the friendly iguanas, zooming down the chain past Highbourne and Norman’s Cay, and ending up in Staniel Cay for lunch.

Talk about friendly people and service!  The folks at Staniel Cay Yacht Club whipped us up a couple of conch salads while we docked, served us a great lunch in a beautiful restaurant, and had a couple of cold Sands and Kalik beers waiting!  We had to say hi to their nurse sharks, and saw a sting-ray and turtle checking out the action also!

Now, no trip all the way down to Staniel is complete with a stop by Big Major’s to see the Swimming Pigs!  What characters!  As we stealthily approached the beach, the pig-radar activated and the one visible pig turned into a flotilla that swam out to greet us!  These guys make some weird noises, and boy were they hungry!  We had some leftovers from our lunch, mainly salad fixings, and some bread and grapes that they loved!  We’ll never forget these guys, and look forward to seeing them again!

Of course, all good things must come to an end.  As we rode back to Nassau, the sun set behind the clouds and the moon began to rise; the horizon faded away between the sea and sky.  The glistening flat calm waters passed underneath us, and we reached the beautiful Nassau Harbour just in time to catch the last rays of sunlight.
